Halloween late this year
Several cases of beer and two or three bottles of wine later... voila.
*No fingers were harmed in the carving of these pumpkins.

Hawk on a perch
A captive hawk at the aquarium. I just shot this on the fly with my D90
and the Sigma 70-200 mm f 2.8
. The camera was set to aperture priority (2.8) and I had auto ISO set wot a maximum of 3200. This was zoomed to the full 200mm and cropped some in post. The noise was pretty heavy, but the final image still came out nicely.

First time fishing
We hit the pond for the first time this morning. The sun was already pretty high so the lighting wasn't great, but you do what you can when you have two little ones. He didn't actually catch anything (nor did I expect him to because of the already oppressive heat). This image is only mildly modified from the original, which was shot in aperture priority mode at f2.8 with the Sigma 70-200mm
.
In post I did some light dodging and burning, a little sharpening and some color correction. This came out as a pretty fair representation of what I saw at the pond this morning.

Hot Air Balloons
Just one of the hot air balloons that were in town for a national competition last weekend. Everything was shot using the Sigma 70-200 f2.8. I was trying to go for more detail and close up shots as opposed to just the whole balloon every time.

Mississippi River at flood stage
This shot was taken a couple of months ago when the Mississippi river was extremely high. Although the water itself was interesting, I found the constant turnover of onlookers to be the more captivating part. This was taken at the top of the levee in Baton Rouge, just south of the new bridge.
