Game over

Just a shot of one of my dogs in the backyard. He's showing no interest in continuing the game of soccer my son and I were playing. He can be incredibly lazy, but if a bird or squirrel touches down he suddenly has limitless energy.

The shot was taken with a 2 foot square softbox pointing directly into the dog's face with a speedlight on 1/4 power. I used my 50mm f1.8 for this, and I laid down on the ground for the shot (in hindsight probably not a good idea as the other three dogs had just urinated all over the yard).

In post I did a little bit of selective sharpening and selective saturation enhancement using masks, and finally added a texture over the top of the image. The image used for the texture is some knotty wood from my deck. I wanted to play around with the technique a little bit and found it to be fun.
