A friend and fellow photography hobbyist collected this guy this morning, and we took a little break from work to immortalize him. We popped him into the freezer for 5 minutes (I work with arthropods all the time and this little guy woke up just fine) to slow him down and placed him on the lid of a bucket that was filled with ice.
I shot with my D90 with three extension tubes on my kit 18-105 lens set to f11. I handheld my SB-600 and triggered it remotely. The shot was handheld and involved alot of leaning in and out to get the focus correct (along with a few discarded images).
He started to wake up as my friend was taking a few final shots and hilarity ensued as we stumbled over ourselves to get him covered up and back outside. Ultimately this resulted in an entertaining and necessary distraction to a long day. Plus I really like the final image.
